HAPPY HOLIDAYS
2006
Vol8 No5
If you have never been to the Los Laureles Lodge in Carmel Valley you need to take a run out that way for lunch or dinner. It is a wonderful part of historical Carmel Valley with awesome ambiance. We truly had a delightful time celebrating good cheer with such good friends. The brunch and service setting was all perfect.
We met in the original lobby entry and offered
Bloody Mary’s, or whatever your preference. It was a great way to start the
Holiday season out right. Then at an appropriate time we were ushered into
the main dining room overlooking that fantastic
pool with winter coming in about you. It was a glorious way to spend a Sunday.
It was so nice to see so many of our club members. Willing to brave the rain
was: Obbink, Whittaker, Estes, Vandergrift, Spangenberg, Strand, Dombroski,
O’Connor, Cleveland, Gibfried, Greening, Grundy and Patterson.
Enjoying spirits, we also had plentiful amount of
orange & grapefruit juice, a huge seasonal platter of fresh fruit and
cheese, delicious apple crepes, egg frittata with fresh & sun dried
tomatoes, Swiss cheese & mushrooms. Tasty apple sausage, lots of croissants,
muffins and the most delicious Danish, plus granola for those healthy at heart.
It was a very pleasant Holiday setting for a Sunday afternoon with the
best of company ever.
The business portion of the meeting was brief. Stan
Patterson, chair of the nominating committee nominated Bruce Obbink as President
and Pat Whittaker as Vice President for the coming year and they were voted
into office for another term. Bruce Obbink reviewed the outings for
2006, gave a treasurers report and briefly talked
about ideas for the coming year.
MG wine and gift baskets were distributed to all that came. For those that couldn’t be there a gift will be mailed. A raffle Prize won by Phyllis Cleveland this was a beautiful litho featuring “old number one”, photos of “the works” and the last MGB off the assembly line. The litho was owned by John Grundy and he donated it to the raffle.
Bruce Obbink announced that dues notices will be
mailed shortly with an updated roster of members. If
anyone sees an MG running around town, chase them down and give them a pep talk
on joining the club. The Davisons have left town for Oregon, and we have lost
several members so our roster could use a little boost. Check the web site from
time to time for up dates. We will also keep you up to date with emails.
