Christmas At the Grill

December 2009

The Holiday’s are upon us again and what a better way to start the festive season but with a party

Several weeks ago we contacted the Grill restaurant in Ryan Ranch to see if they could host a party for us. Not only did they host the party, but they gave us the entire restaurant, choices of menu items and a full bar along side. It was absolutely wonderful!

Everyone started arriving about 1:30 in the afternoon, we were seated at table by 2:00 and believe it or not within minutes of sitting down, here came lunch.

We opted out of having a formal meeting and after lunch went straight to the drawing of prizes. This year we had some surprise winnings. Of course, we had some traditional items, like buckets of car polish, and three very special MG book donated by John Grundy. One book was signed by Mike Allison a well know MG historian. A little different twist on the drawing were two prizes that were in fact a donation by the club to a favorite charity. There was one prize which gave the winner the fun opportunity to locate the site for the Christmas party for 2010. Two prizes for were for couples organize outings one in the spring and one in the fall.

We were especially pleased to see Stan Patterson walk in and join the festivities. Stan is recovering from a serious brain tumor. He is looking great and on the move. Lynda Strand gave a detailed report on the winning ribbon she and Bob came home with from the Morgan Hill British Car event. Bob had recently purchased a British AC and was pleased to have been a winner at the event.

Joe Marcotte gave everyone a run down on the recent winner’s ribbons his newly restored MGTC has received. With the Marcotte’s joining the club we now have 6 MGTCs in the roster.

First time attendees were John and Joan Bertolotti. Welcome.

In spite of the cold day several braved the weather and drove their MG’s to the lunch with “top down” mind you. Those are true MG folks.

Everyone took home a bottle of wine with the special MG label celebrating the Christmas party at the Grill. We have a few left over and if you would like one, let us know and perhaps we can meet someplace and deliver it to you, or you can come by the house at your leisure and pick one up.
