Cypress MG Club On The Beach

Vol 12 No 2

October 2, 2010

The Monterey Cypress MG Club decided it was time to take in the wonderful weather that sometimes surrounds our beautiful peninsula. It was time to head to the beach for a picnic. There is a special setting in Pebble beach near the Spanish Bay beach area that has a fire pit, tables around the fire pit and the opportunity to watch the wonderful sun setting in the west.

The Club decided to have a beach picnic on October 2, 2010. After all we have had several days of extremely warm weather and lovely sunsets so Mother Nature was calling loud and clear.

The Obbinks and Whittakers took the lead and staked out the picnic site. Everyone joined in the pot luck event. The site was secured early in the afternoon and when 4:00 arrived here came the MG cars ready for an outing.

If you have not seen this spot before it is just past the Spanish Bay picnic site near the house that is along the coast the MPCC uses from time to time.

Tables were decorated in blue and red clothes, British flags waved as did he American flag.

Fire was blazing in the fire pit and dinner was served.

What happened to the sun? Well, it was a typical Pebble Beach evening. The weather was mild, but no sun. Nevertheless, all gathered around the fire and had a wonderful dinner and a wonderful evening. Club members: Obbink, Whittaker, Grundy, Greening, Bebermeyer, Gould, Stewart, Gibfried, Martine, O’Connor, Strand and Patterson were there. The cars were parked in line. Giving cause for many people to stop and take photographs.

While due to overcast we were missing the sunset, the surf was pounding at high tide and it was a beautiful site. MG owners have a lot in common and we enjoyed the togetherness on the beach.

The next event is our Christmas party. Bob Bebermeyer is working on that event and it will be at the Martine Inn. We have had some Christmas parties there in the past and Don Martine and Anne Ross have graciously offered to have us back. We will get the date to you later this month.
